Ballet
Instructional sessions include five hours a day of advanced ballet technique, ballet variations, pointe class, and pas de deux class (if enrollment permits). Students rehearse and perform in variations of ballet repertoire at lecture/demonstrations and/or workshop presentations. Students rehearse and perform in a final project. Twenty students are accepted.
Dancers with the required prerequisite experience are strongly encouraged to apply for both ballet and modern dance in order to increase their chances of acceptance to OSAI. Please click here for information about Modern Dance.
Prerequisites:
A minimum of three (3) years of formal ballet training
Applicants must currently participate in at least three (3) ballet classes per week.
Female applicants must have a minimum of two (2) years of pointe experience and must currently participate in at least two (2) pointe classes per week.
Requirements:
1) Complete an online application and schedule your audition no later than noon the Friday before your desired audition date. Click here for audition dates. Audition spaces fill quickly, so schedule as soon as possible.
2) Bring a goverment-issued I.D. or birth certificate to your audition for age verification purposes.
3) Arrive at your audition at least 15 minutes early to check in and warm up. The audition is a master class consisting of barre and floor work.
4) Read additional Audition Tips compiled by our adjudicators.
Mandatory Audition Attire:
Females: Black leotards, pink tights, pink slippers, and pointe shoes. Hair must be pulled back and secured off the face.
Males: White t-shirts, black tights, and black shoes. Hair must be pulled back and secured off the face.
