Film & Video
New Application Option -- Screenwriting!
Students shoot and edit a short film based on a pre-selected script. Students work as a group and learn about the various roles on a film set (director, editor, grip, props, etc.) The student film is screened in a public exhibition. Up to 16 students are accepted.
Application Requirements:
1) As soon as possible, call the Oklahoma Arts Institute office at (405) 321-9000 to schedule an interview. Interview spaces fill quickly. Click here for interview dates and locations.
2) Download and submit a complete application.
NEW Application Option:
There are now two ways to apply for Film/Video -- submit EITHER a short film OR a screenplay. The screenplay option is intended only for students with no experience in filmmaking but with strong narrative storytelling abilities. A limited number of students may be accepted through the screenplay option. Please note that screenwriting is not part of the Film/Video program at Quartz Mountain; it is simply a new way to apply for the discipline. Screenwriters are encouraged to apply for Creative Writing in addition to Film/Video. Please click here for more information about Creative Writing.
Interview Guidelines:
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete a questionnaire about your work. Please bring the following items to your interview:
* EITHER a screenplay OR a short film. DO NOT write your name on your screenplay or film; you will be assigned a number at your interview. The screenplay must be typed and up to ten (10) pages long. The short film must be a 2-3 minute fiction or documentary film on DVD or Mini-DV that you scripted and shot. The Oklahoma Arts Institute will retain your materials for consideration and they will NOT be returned.
