OSAI Adjudication Procedures

All applicants, whether accepted, not accepted, or accepted as an alternate, will be notified by mail in early April, 2009.

Please keep in mind that OSAI is extremely competitive. Last year, approximately 1,200 students will audition for about 275 spots. If you aren't accepted this year, please try again next year. Thank you for auditioning and good luck!

All auditions are judged on a statewide basis, not by audition location. Selection is made at the conclusion of statewide auditions, based on audition scores and application materials, NOT on audition location or applicants' hometowns. Whether a student chooses to audition in his or her own town or another location will have ABSOLUTELY NO IMPACT on that student's chance of being accepted to OSAI.

Acting, ballet, and modern dance auditions are all "live" auditions, meaning applicants are scored at the audition. Choir, orchestra, creative writing, and drawing/painting auditions are blind, meaning adjudicators do not know the applicant's name, age, hometown, etc. Choir and orchestra auditions are videotaped and judged at a later date.

QUICK FACTS

• The Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute curriculum has changed over the years. In the past, OSAI students have studied disciplines such as mime, printmaking and poetry.

• Come to OSAI prepared to work hard and have fun! OSAI students study their chosen discipline for at least six hours a day.

• Many OSAI students audition several times before they are accepted. Don't be discouraged if you've auditioned in the past and haven't been accepted - this year could be your year!

• Don't forget - if you apply for more than one discipline, you must submit a separate application, including recommendation forms and supplemental information, for each discipline.
